Mutton Bustin’

The Annual CCFDR Mutton Bustin’ Competition will be Saturday, March 19th at the Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek.  After the Parade, we invite all Mutton Busters, their families and Mutton Bustin’ fans to join us out back at the Buffalo Chip Arena to enjoy this great tradition.

The Mutton Bustin’ Competition starts at 2:00pm.

Registration opens at 12:30 and closes at 1:30pm.

To secure your spot, we accept pre-registration forms by US Mail with check.  The MB registration fee is $10.00 per child and there is no admission fee to watch.  Up to 90 Mutton Bustin’ competitors can compete.  Contestants comepete in their age group, starting with the 7 year olds first, ending with the 4 year olds.  Good luck to all 2016 CCFDR MB contestants!

Mutton Bustin’ Champions will be announced in the Memorial Arena prior to the start of the final rodeo performance on Sunday, April 3rd.

All contestants are required to wear protective helmets (yours or ours).  Scoring is simple and is officiated by the Mutton Bustin’ judge and a stop watch.  There is one winner in each age group and the best time wins!

Entry fee is $10.00 per Mutton Buster.  Contestants can pre-register by downloading the application online or register same day, prior to the event (space is limited).  All paperwork and waivers must be completed and turned in for the contestant to be eligible to compete.

The Cave Creek Fiesta Days Rodeo Mutton Bustin’ competition is held in memory of Barry Myers, who owned & operated the Foothills Granite company and loved the Mutton Bustin’ competition.
